Stolt Tank Containers (STC) celebrated a milestone 40 years of operations in May and a commemorative logo was created to mark the achievement.
When Jacob Stolt-Nielsen established the business in May 1982 with 400 tanks, this transportation mode was in its infancy, but he saw it as a natural complement to Stolt Tankers, established (as Parcel Tankers Inc.) in 1959, and Stolthaven Terminals, established in 1971.
STC has continued to grow steadily, and at times exponentially, over the past four decades, with major acquisitions in 2008 – when it took over the tank container operations of Taby Group, including approximately 5,000 containers – and in 2011, when another 5,000 tank containers increased the global fleet by 20%.
Today, STC is the world’s largest provider of door-to- door transportation services for bulk-liquid chemicals and food-grade products. It has 22 full-service depots and hubs, 43,500 tank containers and, in 2021, it completed 140,000 shipments worldwide.
STC has planned a series of celebrations in its key locations around the world, including employees, alumni, customers and suppliers.
