Stolt Sea Farm
A leader in quality seafood production
Stolt Sea Farm's sustainably produced seafood features on restaurant, hotel and foodservice menus, as well as on supermarket shelves, in more than 30 countries.
Our annual production capacity totals 6,800 tonnes of turbot and 1,700 tonnes of sole.
Our pioneering land-based aquaculture techniques ensure superior standards of control, safety and reliability and reduce pressure on wild species at risk of over-fishing so that future generations continue to enjoy wonderful seafood.
The premium species we produce are the result of extensive scientific know-how, sophisticated technology and custom-designed facilities. We are committed to working with care and respect for our fish, the environment, our people and the local communities in which we operate.
Our fresh turbot has received Superior Taste Awards in 2024 and 2023 from the International Taste Institute, which rated the product as ‘exceptional’ – with scores above 90% – in all five judging categories. The three-star award is the highest possible rating within this certification and Stolt Sea Farm is the first flatfish producer to receive it.

Quality and welfare controls
Stolt Sea Farm closely manages and controls the feeding, breeding and welfare of our fish, submitting our production processes to rigorous external and internal controls.
We have an ongoing investment programme for the development of innovative techniques to reduce the pressure on fishing areas at risk of over-exploitation. We follow rigorous quality and environmental controls and our GlobalGAP certification for all operations confirms that we have in place sound and responsible aquaculture practices.
We were also the first business in our sector to achieve ISO 9001 Quality Management certification for both production and commercialisation, as well as ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. We also maintained our International Featured Standards (IFS) and Specific Self-inspection Systems (SAE) food safety certifications at our processing plant in Lira, Spain.
In 2023, the Official College of Biologists in Galicia, Spain (COBGA) named us Company of the Year for our investment in biological research and development and our commitment to sustainable production processes and animal welfare.
