Stolthaven US receives prestigious safety excellence award

Stolthaven Houston and Stolthaven New Orleans received a joint Safety Excellence Award at the International Liquid Terminals Association's (ILTA) annual conference, June 13-15 in Houston.

This prestigious award recognises companies that demonstrate a continued commitment to jobsite safety and whose safety programmes and performance in 2021 were judged to be exemplary. "This is a fantastic achievement by both terminals and recognition of the hard work of all our employees over the last few years," said Daniel Strydom, General Manager, Stolthaven Houston (pictured left).

“This joint award acknowledges that we have a zero-injury workplace at both terminals,” explains Philip Watt, General Manager, Stolthaven New Orleans (pictured centre). “Together, we completed 550,000 working hours without an Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) medical recordable injury case in 2021.”

President of Stolthaven Terminals, Guy Bessant, added: "I am very proud of the commitment to safety shown by our teams in Stolthaven US, and of the safety and business continuity achievements across our terminal network. In spite of the unique challenges we have all faced over the past few years, we have managed to maintain - and in many areas, improve - our safety performance."

Other recent health and safety achievements include Stolthaven Santos being named the best bulk liquid storage terminal (safety and productivity category) in Brazil, and Stolthaven Singapore winning Terminal of the Year (for the second year in a row) in the Dow 2021 SEA S4TAR programme.
