Stolt Tankers joins Galveston Bay Foundation’s marsh restoration event

In association with Galveston Bay Foundation, Stolt Tankers supported the planting of more than 600 native plants in the coastal prairie at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in the Galveston Bay area, Texas, US in September.

A group of eight volunteers from Stolt Tankers’ Houston team joined the Galveston Bay Foundation’s ‘Marsh Mania’ event. This is a nationally recognised, community-based marsh restoration initiative that has been a feature in the Galveston Bay area since its inception in 1999 and has restored more than 200 acres of vital salt marsh habitat over that time.

The event supports vital conservation efforts and helps restore the Texas Coastal Wetlands, while also increasing awareness and appreciation of wetland habitats and their functions.

Maren Schroeder, President of Stolt Tankers, said: “We are proud to support the Galveston Bay Foundation on this project, which makes a positive impact on the local environment in Houston, and closely aligns with our values to protect the marine environment and the biodiversity of the wider marine ecosystem.”

The Galveston Bay Foundation said: “We are grateful for our corporate partner volunteers who give their time to help us restore critical habitats around our Bay.”

Galveston Bay Foundation is a conservation nonprofit that has served as guardian of Galveston Bay since 1987. Its mission is to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay as a healthy and productive place for generations to come.
