Tolerantie named SNITS Ship of the Year 2021

We are pleased to announce that the Tolerantie has scooped the top spot in the Stolt-Nielsen Inland Tanker Service (SNITS) Ship of the Year contest for 2021, taking the crown from 2020 winner Stolt Artega.

The stainless steel constructed, 3,000 dwt Tolerantie was built in 2006 and has been sailing in the Stolt fleet since then. Her owner, Mr. van Maaren has a long history of working with Stolt Tankers, having first had a ship join Stolt in the 1990s. Today, his son, together with his daughter-in-law are responsible for the Tolerantie.

General Manager, Stolt Tankers, Maickel Uijtewaal commented: β€œIt was a unanimous decision by the judges to award the top spot to the Tolerantie in the annual SNITS Ship of the Year competition, and this accolade is more than deserved. The owners have a long history of being a part of SNITS and I hope that we continue to work closely together as we develop our partnership for many years. Who knows what success a third generation may bring!”

The SNITS Ship of the Year competition covers its fleet of 35 vessels. Each ship is measured against a wide-ranging list of criteria that covers sustainability performance, including spills, housekeeping on board, ship maintenance, customer service, ship administration and documentation quality, accurate reporting of daily positions and providing timely updates of any potential scheduling changes, reporting of near misses, incident reporting, inspection results, damages and any off-spec cargo as well as training attendance by the crew.

This year, the judges noted that the winning ship received excellent customer feedback, without a single complaint. The Tolerantie also holds an outstanding safety record – no incidents or accidents were received during 2021 and this performance has been consistent for several years.
